A Shop for Killers Episode 1 begins with heart-pounding tension as Jeong Ji-an finds herself trapped inside her secluded childhood home, surrounded by heavily armed mercenaries and high-tech sniper fire. High-powered rifles tear through the walls while combat drones buzz menacingly overhead. With the surrounding rural neighbourhood mysteriously cleared under the cover of a live-fire military exercise, Ji-an has no outside help and no escape route. As bullets shatter the windows, she is forced to dive into her memories to survive, recalling the unusual and rigorous tactical lessons taught to her by her enigmatic uncle, Jeong Jin-man, who always insisted on identifying blind spots and calculating every angle under extreme duress. The story rewinds to reveal the events that brought Ji-an to this nightmare. Just days earlier, Ji-an receives devastating news: Jin-man has been found dead in a bathtub, his throat slashed in what police hastily classify as a suicide. Ji-an refuses to believe her fiercely pragmatic, calculating uncle would take his own life. While handling his funeral arrangements, she crosses paths with Bae Jeong-min, a polite childhood classmate with sharp IT skills who claims he was hired by Jin-man to help build and maintain a modest website selling agricultural hoses and farm supplies. While cleaning out Jin-man's cluttered house and inspecting his old computer and mobile phone, Ji-an and Jeong-min uncover a staggering secret. A series of encrypted bank alerts reveal an astronomical account balance of over 18.7 billion won. Digging deeper into the hidden architecture of the agricultural supply website, Jeong-min bypasses multiple security layers to expose the real business operating in the shadows: Murthehelp, an underground dark-web marketplace supplying specialized weapons, tactical gear, and mercenary services to licensed killers. Before Ji-an can process the shocking truth about her uncle's covert life, an alert pops up on Jin-man's burner phone. A rumbleer expresses condolences for Jin-man's death, followed by a chilling message asking whether the uncle's niece is now running the shop—or if she should be eliminated. Within moments, the secluded home becomes ground zero for a ruthless hit squad led by cold-blooded sniper Sung-jo, who takes aim from a distant hillside, while a deadly armed woman named So Min-hye suddenly appears at the front gate. Episode 1 sets up an electrifying survival mystery, seamlessly balancing intense, cinematic action with psychological depth. Ji-an's sudden transformation from an ordinary college student into a hunted target forces her to tap into Jin-man's survival conditioning. With lethal assassins closing in and Jin-man's true mercenary legacy unraveling, the stage is set for a high-stakes war where every lesson from her past could mean the difference between life and death.
