Episode 3 opens five months in the past. Min-ji tried to butter up her father into buying her a new phone — making breakfast, asking about his day, offering to do the dishes. He saw through it immediately but said nothing. That night, she found the latest Samsung on her desk alongside a heart-shaped keychain. She opened her door, a little shy, and told him she loved him. It is a small memory, but it lands hard — because Kim is now learning too late how much she was carrying alone. Back in the present, the silent phone call from episode 2 ends with no answer. Kim leaves the police station empty-handed and heads straight to Han-su's taekwondo school. He tells Han-su his daughter is missing and people are already closing in. Han-su asks nothing — he simply moves. Together they beat back a team of Special Mission Bureau agents led by Kang Guk-cheol who arrive to take Kim in, and the two escape. Meanwhile Park Jin-cheol, who broke out of holding, returns to Kim's apartment and walks straight into a brutal fight with Park Kang-sung, the North Korean operative who has crossed into the South. The apartment gets torn apart — fridge door and all — before Kang-sung slips away. Jin-cheol calls Kim with a warning: a North Korean agent is now in play, and Min-ji's disappearance is connected to something far larger than a school bully's revenge. Kim and Han-su use a hidden bunker to trace Min-ji's phone signal, tracking it to a phone resale warehouse in Gyeonggi-do. They fight through the gang running it and recover the phone. But going through Min-ji's messages destroys Kim from the inside — he sees how isolated and unhappy she had been, and how completely he had missed it. He breaks down crying, asking himself why he never noticed. Han-su pulls him back: find her first, apologize later. The episode ends with Park Kang-sung stepping out of the shadows behind Kim, pressing a gun to his head and saying: 'Found you… fake 66.'
