Episode 20 of Daha 17 opens at the Akkaya villa with one of the most painful brother scenes of the series. Teoman believes that Aras only pities him, and he answers with the words "I was born into the darkness" before locking Aras inside the same kind of cabinet that Hakan once used to punish him. Inside, Aras finds the drawings that Teoman made during his darkest days, and the sight crushes him with guilt. Unable to go through with it, Teoman finally lets Aras out. Having seen Teoman's mercy once again, Aras steps outside and smashes the cabinet to pieces, the symbol of everything his brother suffered. When Aras turns around, he finds four pairs of eyes watching him: Hakan, Şebnem, Leyla and Teoman. The confrontation between the past and the future is cut short by police sirens. The police raid the Akkaya villa and take Hakan and Şebnem into custody. The family's lawyer then tells Leyla and Teoman that, because they have no adult relatives, they will be placed in a state children's home. Helpless as she waits for what comes next, Şebnem's first request is to speak with Aras. She tells him that Leyla may look fragile but is actually the stronger one, while Teoman is not, and she asks him to stay by their side. Aras answers that he will never leave Leyla or Teoman alone. Aras's childhood story and Teoman's way of finishing it as if he had lived it himself show that the brotherly bond Aras already knows about is beginning to surface in Teoman. After being released from custody, Şebnem prepares herself and goes to meet Abi, unaware that Leyla has seen her. Leyla runs after her mother but cannot catch up, and in that moment the memories she left behind in the past begin to return. When Deniz cannot reach Leyla, she informs Aras, and Aras and Teoman search for her from every direction. Aras is the first to find her crying. Leyla confesses that something is happening to her: she is remembering things, she saw her mother, and she wonders why her mother did not come and take them with her.
