Rhaenyra, still grappling with the weight of a crown she has barely had time to wear, faces compounding crises inside King's Landing — an empty treasury, starving citizens, restless nobles, and a city that has yet to fully accept her rule. Daemon warns that the soldiers must be paid to prevent bedlam, while Larys Strong urges Rhaenyra to guard her intentions closely and trust no one, noting that most men hold allegiance only to themselves. The episode also brings Aegon Targaryen and Larys Strong to Rook's Rest, where Sunfyre's remains still lie, and sees Criston Cole and Gwayne Hightower arrive at Harrenhal in search of the missing Prince Aemond. Rhaenyra must also deal with an unresolved vacancy in the Master of Coin seat, waiting on the Lannisters to account for the missing royal treasury.
