Episode 9 opens in the aftermath of the midterm examinations. Although the study group's improved grades satisfy the agreement needed to convene a disciplinary committee against PI HAN-WOOL (Cha Woo-min), Han-wool has no intention of allowing the hearing to proceed fairly. Instead, he launches a calculated counterattack by spreading false rumors that Yoon GA-MIN (Hwang Min-hyun) and his friends have formed a violent school gang operating under the guise of a study group. The fabricated accusations quickly spread throughout Yusung Technical High School, turning teachers, parents, and students against them and threatening everything the group has worked to build. While Han-gyeong fights to protect her students, Detective NA TAE-MAN continues investigating the Yeonbaek Gang and uncovers additional links between Han-wool's organization and several violent crimes involving students. At the same time, fragments of Han-wool's own past begin to emerge, revealing how his upbringing under his powerful gangster father shaped his ruthless worldview and his obsession with controlling Yusung through fear rather than respect. The revelations make it clear that Han-wool's cruelty is rooted in years of manipulation and violence, though he willingly embraces that path. The false gang allegations have serious consequences for every member of the study group. Se-hyeon faces renewed discrimination because of his family background, Ji-woo is pressured to abandon the group, Hee-won becomes a target of intimidation, and Lee Joon's criminal reputation is used as supposed proof that the accusations are true. Rather than falling apart, the friends choose to stand together, refusing to let Han-wool isolate them one by one. Ga-min spends much of the episode supporting Se-hyeon through his exhausting construction job while encouraging him not to abandon his dream of attending university. Their friendship deepens as Se-hyeon finally begins believing that his future can be changed through determination rather than violence or circumstance. Meanwhile, Han-gyeong gathers evidence to challenge the accusations and prepares for the disciplinary committee despite mounting pressure from the school administration. By the episode's conclusion, Han-wool's campaign has successfully delayed the committee proceedings, but it also exposes the lengths he is willing to go to maintain his power. Instead of breaking the study group, the conspiracy strengthens their resolve. Realizing that defeating Han-wool will require exposing both his crimes and the corruption protecting him, Ga-min and his friends prepare for one final confrontation that will determine the future of Yusung Technical High School.
