Episode 13 begins as Kang Shin-jin moves to seize complete control of Suojae after the collapse of Park Gwang-to's political power. Determined to eliminate the former president before he can reveal what he knows, Shin-jin secretly arranges for Gwak Sun-won to kill Park while he is still under medical care. Han-young and his allies realize that Gwak Sun-won has become a disposable liability and race to protect him, while Shin-jin uses his influence over a doctor to arrange Gwak's death in exchange for manipulating the doctor's own legal troubles. At the same time, Han-young continues preparing the final operation against Shin-jin. He brings Park Cheol-woo deeper into the plan and uses his position inside Shin-jin's circle to gather evidence of the new Chief Justice's corruption. Shin-jin's takeover initially appears successful as members of Suojae accept him as their new leader, but his victory quickly begins to unravel. The people inside Suojae who had been waiting for an opportunity to resist him begin turning against him, while Han-young secretly exposes evidence of Shin-jin's betrayal and his attempt to eliminate Park Gwang-to. Park survives the assassination attempt, and the failed operation leaves Shin-jin increasingly isolated. Han-young then confronts Shin-jin directly and finally reveals the truth he has hidden throughout his second life: he is not simply an ambitious judge seeking revenge, but the same Lee Han-young who was killed in the original timeline and returned to the past with all of his memories. He tells Shin-jin that every move he has made was designed to destroy the corrupt system that once controlled his life and eventually led to his death. Meanwhile, Assemblyman Woo Gyo-hoon becomes another victim of the collapsing power struggle. Shin-jin's faction arranges circumstances that result in Woo's death, while the evidence at the scene is manipulated to connect Han-young to the murder. The authorities discover blood evidence at Park Gwang-to's residence and soon identify Han-young as a co-suspect in Woo Gyo-hoon's killing. Han-young realizes that Shin-jin has deliberately dragged him into the case so that the police can destroy his credibility and prevent him from exposing Suojae. Yoo Se-hee is also pulled into the scheme. Under pressure from her family and Haenal Law Firm, she visits Han-young in the hospital and ultimately helps create the false narrative that he was involved in the murder. Although she struggles emotionally with betraying him, she chooses to protect her family's position and the law firm's interests. After recovering enough to leave the hospital, Han-young refuses to surrender himself because he knows that doing so would allow Shin-jin to bury the evidence and silence him permanently. He instead goes on the run, determined to clear his name and finish the operation himself. Kim Jin-ah, Park Cheol-woo and Seok Jeong-ho refuse to abandon him and begin searching for evidence that can expose Shin-jin's conspiracy. Meanwhile, Shin-jin consolidates his influence over prosecutors and officials, believing that Han-young has finally been cornered. However, Han-young realizes that Shin-jin's greatest weakness is the evidence connecting him to the murder, Park Gwang-to's attempted assassination and the corruption inside Suojae. The episode ends with Han-young becoming a wanted fugitive while the media reports that he is a suspect in Woo Gyo-hoon's murder. Instead of surrendering, he prepares for one final confrontation with Shin-jin, determined to expose the truth and break the cycle of corruption that originally ended with his own death.
